Environment Awards
Western Australian Environment Awards 2008
The WA Environment Awards acknowledge and celebrate the dedicated Western Australians who strive to protect our unique environment. They recognise the achievements and outstanding commitment of those that promote and maintain high standards in environmental care.
Community Programs
  • Community Involvement
    Community Involvement - Community Involvement facilitates consultation and assists in decision-making between the Department and the community, recognising that the Department benefits from the experience and knowledge of those close to the issues with which we are working.
  • Green Stamp Program
    The Green Stamp is an innovative program which assists small to medium-sized businesses incorporate processes that avoid, reduce, reuse, recycle and dispose of waste in an environmentally friendly manner.
  • Litter Reporting Program
    Litter Reporting Program is a program designed to increase community awareness of the problems associated with littering, report littering activity as well as provide up-to-date littering information via the litter reporter newsletter.
  • Litter Prevention Taskforce
    The Taskforce was established to set the strategic direction for litter prevention, and to raise the awareness and profile of litter in Western Australia. A key responsibility of the Taskforce is develop a state-wide litter prevention and management strategy.
  • Tidy Towns
    Tidy Towns is a program that brings communities together throughout Western Australia to undertake practical actions to enhance and conserve their built and natural environment.
  • Airwatch
    AirWatch - AirWatch provides solutions to issues such as haze, particluate levels, and indoor air quality. This program works with the community, government agencies and NGO's to raise awareness about air pollution in Western Australia.
  • Regional Community Partnerships
    The Department forms strong community partnerships throughout the regional areas to increase awareness and understanding of environmental protection and natural resource management issues.
