Illegal dumping is a form of littering where waste is disposed of in an area that is not a dedicated waste facility. This might be on roadsides, on local council land, in the State forest or any out of the way place where people think they will not be seen. Illegal dumping is in breach of the Litter Act 1979. The Maximum penalty for illegal dumping is $1000.

If you have witnessed illegal dumping occurring, illegal dumping has just occurred in your area or know of anybody involved in illegal dumping you ca call our illegal dumping hotline 1300 766 541. You do not need to be a litter reporter to call the number.
Keep Australia Beautiful Council has its own illegal dumping investigation team man the hotline and can visit areas effected by illegal dumping.
