Brachyscome iberidifolia (or Swan River Daisy) is an annual herb found in Western Australia. Occupying a wide range, the species spreads out as fields.
The daisy’s form and colours were familiar to Europeans when discovered and they have since become a popular garden plant. Poor or sandy soils do not inhibit a showy display: the species is hardy and adaptable.
Melaleuca eleuterostachya is found from Karratha, inland to the East Pilbara region with scattered specimens found around Wiluna and south to Esperance.
This Melaleuca species is also commonly found from Esperance, north-west up to Denham. Melaleuca eleuterostachya is a shapely shrub or small tree (0.5m-3m high).
It has handsome, dark green foliage but is best known for its showy, white, sweetly perfumed flower spikes which bloom from July through to January.
It is an easy-to-grow plant which prefers a sunny position, and will thrive in moist or dry soils provided drainage is good.
