Mel Hay APM - Chairperson

Mel Hay is a retired Assistant Commissioner of Police having served in the Western Australia Police Service for 37 years. He was promoted to the rank of Assistant Commissioner in 1994 and since that time was a member of the police executive and part of the management team responsible for significant and profound change within the Western Australia Police Service. During this period he was responsible for and managed the operations of the Traffic and Operations Support portfolio for a period of 7 years and the Crime Investigation and Intelligence Support portfolio for 3 years. He was awarded the Australian Police Medal for distinguished police service in January 2000.

Anne Braithwaite

Anne Braithwaite is an experienced Professional Manager and Senior Policy Advisor in public sector environmental and public health fields. With over 16 years experience, Anne has worked in all 3 spheres of government and boasts 13 years experience working with local governments in Queensland. She has held various local government management positions including full management responsibility for local government waste collection and recycling services, their waste facilities and natural resource and public health programs. Anne also holds undergraduate qualifications in environmental health and postgraduate qualifications in waste management, and is a current member of the Keep Australia Beautiful Council.

Jennie Collins

Jennie Collins has been a teacher for 24 years and is currently teaching a class of year 5/6/7 boys at Greenmount Primary School. Jennie is extremely passionate about waste & resource management, and at Greenmount Primary School she has been responsible for establishing a recycling system, a worm farm, and organising the collection of printer and photocopier cartridges as well as drycell batteries for containment at Red Hill. Jennie is also a member of the Department of Environment's School's Advisory Committee, a Councillor with the Town of Bassendean and is married with 3 primary-aged children!

Oliver Crosthwaite

As a Senior Policy Officer for the Department of Local Government and Regional Development, Oliver Crosthwaite is currently involved in reviewing the Dog Act 1976 and the Cemeteries Act 1986. Oliver has a wealth of experience in policy, having worked as a Research and Policy Officer in the Kimberley and Goldfields - Esperance Regional Development offices, as well as for the former Department of Commerce and Trade, and Department of Tourism and Western Australian Local Government Grants Commission in Perth. Oliver possess' a Bachelor of Arts (Social Sciences), a Graduate Diploma in Government Administration and a Master of Arts (Public Policy).

Raguragavan Ganeshasundaram

Raguragavan Ganeshasundaram is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Centre for Applied Social Marketing Research in the School of Marketing, Tourism and Leisure, Faculty of Business and Law. Prior to joining ECU he worked as a Senior Lecturer in Sri Lanka. Ragu has over 18 years of teaching and research experience and functioned in the capacities of Head of Management Studies, Faculty of Business Studies and Director of Research. He has published numerous journal articles and conference papers. His primary research interests are in social marketing and consumer behaviour.

Annabel Hinkley

Annabel Hinkley is currently an Employment Consultant for Job Network in Katanning. Annabel first got involved in litter abatement through the management of three Work for the Dole projects in Katanning from 1999-2001. The projects involved long-term unemployed people collecting rubbish along road verges. Often collecting rubbish along road verges herself, Annabel is extremely passionate about preventing the beautiful Australian countryside being littered and improving recycling services in country areas. Annabel hopes to set up a recycling centre in Woodanilling and has recently joined the Woodanilling Tidy Towns Committee.

Jeff Munn

Jeff Munn is an active member of the community, and currently acts as a Councillor (for the past 23 years) and Deputy Mayor for the City of Armadale. He represents Local Government on a number of committees and boards including the Swan River Trust, the Local Government working party for the Swan Catchment Council, the 3C Core Consultative Committee on Waste and also the Keep Australia Beautiful Council (WA). Jeff is also a member of the South East Metropolitan Regional Council, a Civil Marriage Celebrant and a part-time lecturer at TAFE in surveying, computer programs and mathematics.

Neil Munslow-Davies

Neil Munlsow-Davies is employed in the beverage industry, the Swan Brewery Company, and holds a position that includes responsibilities for achieving positive environmental outcomes within their operations. As a current member of the Keep Australia Beautiful Council (WA) and an active participant in the Strategy's public consultation process, Neil has a strong interest in litter prevention and management in WA and a keen desire to see the Taskforce achieve its goals.

Adrian Price

Adrian Price is currently a member of the Waste Management Board and a judge for the Tidy Towns program in WA. He was previously a Tidy Towns judge for the whole of Queensland - judging an amazing 330 towns each year - and initiated the Queensland KABC Recycling Awards in 1989. Adrian is an advocate for rural recycling projects and was rewarded in November 2003 for his environmental education and promotional efforts by receiving the WA Regional Local Hero - Australian of the Year Award for 2004.

Stev Slavin

Stev Slavin has worked for the Department of Conservation and Land Management for over 18 years as an Education Officer, Project Officer, and currently as a Parks and Visitor Services Leader for the Swan Region. Stev was the Founder and Chairperson of the Darling Range Rubbish Group for four years prior to its amalgamation into the Metropolitan Illegal Dumping Taskforce whereby he was the Chair for a further three years. Stev is passionate about solving the problem of littering and illegal dumping in WA's natural estates.

Holly Thomas

Holly Thomas has recently become an environmental consultant at Sinclair Knight Merz working on a broad range of environmental projects. Previously Holly worked for Cleanaway liaising with people based in the Pilbara, Peel and metropolitan regions, in local government, mining and industrial facilities. Her experience in educating mine site personnel about recycling and waste minimisation and her own environmental training lead her to apply for a position on the Taskforce. Holly sees litter prevention and education as a vital step in changing people's awareness of their impact on the environment. Holly possess' a Bachelor of Science (Environmental) and a Masters in Cleaner Production.

Heather Woodley

Heather Woodley is currently studying Environmental Science Management at Swan TAFE. Having a great love of the bush, Heather is extremely passionate and committed to protecting and preserving the Western Australian environment, and dislikes seeing people degrading it unnecessarily - either on purpose or through ignorance. Along with her passion and enthusiasm, Heather brings a young person's perspective, a crucial element in controlling litter problems, to the Taskforce.
